Shyam Madiraju

Bio

After graduating in 1989 with a BFA in Applied Arts from Delhi University, India, Shyam started his career in advertising in India. Since then, he has worked as a Creative Director in India, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles in some of the world’s most creatively reputed advertising agencies.

Over the years, he has created, written and directed numerous TV commercials that have won several gold, silver and meritorious awards at The Clios, The Cannes Advertising Festival, The New York Advertising Festival, The Hong Kong Advertising Festival, The Australian Advertising Festival and at British Design and Art Direction.

In 2001 Shyam took a sabbatical from advertising to write and direct feature films. In 2002 his first script A Life After was selected in the first round of the 2003 Sundance Film Lab. Broken is his second script, and it too was selected for the first round of the 2004 Sundance Film Lab.

Besides consulting as a Creative Director and working on his debut feature, he also teaches advertising and photography at Art Center, Pasadena.

He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two children.
