Argentine-German writer-director Sophia Mocorrea explores ways young people are shaped by cultural and social structures. Her short films have screened internationally, with Matadoras shortlisted for Cannes Critics’ Week and her graduation film “The Kidnapping of the Bride” winning Best International Short Film Award at Sundance and receiving a Special Mention at Berlinale. An alumna of Torino, TIFF, ZFF, and Film Independent, she is currently preparing her debut feature, Marriage by Abduction, a German-Argentine co-production, while developing her second feature, Vaca Muerta. She is also co-founder of Matadoras Film, which was selected for Match Me! at the Locarno Film Festival.
