Members-Only Screening: Forge

Film Independent Members, you and a guest are invited to join us for a theatrical screening of Forge, including an in-person conversation with writer/director/producer Jing Ai Ng, and actors Kelly Marie Tran and Andie Ju, moderated by Dea Vazquez (Associate Director of Fiction Programs, Film Independent).

Forge, along with filmmaker Jing Ai Ng, and producers Liz Daering-Glass and Gabrielle Cordero, have collectively received support from four Film Independent Labs and Programs over the past five years: Screenwriting Lab (2021), Fast Track (2023) and the Fiction Producing Lab (2024, 2025).

In Miami, the resourceful Zhang siblings – Raymond and Coco – sell forged paintings to unsuspecting parties. Despite their thriving underground operation, the siblings are still short on cash when they cross paths with disgraced millionaire Holden Beaumont. Sensing an opportunity to make a fortune, Holden convinces the Zhangs to forge long lost masterpieces as a front for his family’s collection. Meanwhile, FBI Art Crimes agent Emily Lee moves from New York to Miami, discovering a plethora of forgeries cropping up in the South Florida art market. As Emily continues to investigate the Zhang siblings’ work, their lives converge to devastating effect in the Zhang family dim sum restaurant.

From Utopia, Forge premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival and will be released theatrically in Los Angeles on May 15, and in New York on May 22.
