Logline

When beloved popstar Luna Lindsey’s song is the center of a geopolitical scandal, the world demands a statement. Industry pressure and moral alignment collide as Luna tries to “say something” meaningful, only to reveal her own selfishness and creative bankruptcy- a perfect storm to get her cancelled.

Synopsis

Fresh off her tour and looking to the future, burgeoning pop star, Luna Lindsey, gets a call that changes the course of her life. The New York Times has reported that her song “Party People” was used to torture American soldiers overseas. The internet has taken her hours of silence as condonation. Memes and boycotts ensue. Unsure of what to do, Luna listens to her PR agents and keeps silent… But, there’s a deep wound in Luna. One that pushes her to call an old, scorned collaborator, Penny. Penny takes her to task and Luna blows her gasket.

To prove Penny wrong, Luna seeks out the author of the article to correct the record, but things go sour when Luna won’t admit that she is part of this story, pushing blame to her new collaborator and romantic partner, Adam. The call ends with Luna screaming and calling Richard Holt a fucking idiot. Overwrought with uncertainty, Luna rushes to the bathroom to puke. While recovering she plays a three year old voice memo… the moment the song “Party People” was created, revealing that this song is actually THE ONLY song Luna has ever written herself.

Adam returns frustrated. Luna was supposed to pick him up from the airport. Learning that he lost his phone, she takes the opportunity to reframe the last twenty minutes. Abreast to the situation, Adam takes charge, wanting to say something via Instagram or Twitter but Luna has already spoken for herself. It comes down the pipe that Luna blamed Adam for the creation of the song. This sparks a deeper fight about their relationship, romantic and creative. Left alone, she’s given one last shot… the widowed wife of Private Johnson, Remy, is on Instagram Live… Luna joins. And, we’ll save the ending =]
