Finding Your Match: What’s the “Right” Festival for Your Film?
Finding Your Match: What’s the “Right” Festival for Your Film?
Each year, countless filmmakers apply to film festivals across the U.S., hoping to find the biggest spotlight to showcase their film, while festivals sort through thousands of submissions trying to find the films that best fit the limited number of slots available in their programming slate. Determining the right festival strategy for your short, episodic or feature project can be a daunting task, especially if you focus on just a few festivals, without considering the breadth of options available, and asking yourself: Which is the right festival for my film and my career?
Film Independent is here to help, with a series of conversations with various festivals to help you find the one that’s best for you.
Numerous festivals are particularly filmmaker-friendly, offering the rewarding experience of screening your film to an audience of film lovers, as well as exciting opportunities to network with peers, industry professionals and other attendees. On March 10, festival programmers from Heartland Film Festival, Bentonville Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, and Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival will join us for a conversation to discuss the roles their festivals play in the larger ecosystem, the best advice for submitting your work, and what makes them the right choice for you.
