Free Screening: At the Gates

You’re invited to join us for a theatrical screening of At the Gates, followed by an in-person conversation with writer/director Augustus Meleo Bernstein, producer Jhanvi Motla, cinematographer Alan Torres, composer Julia Newman and actor Ezekiel Pacheco.

Jhanvi Motla and Alan Torres are Film Independent Fellows who took part in Project Involve in 2019 and 2014, respectively.

This year we’re celebrating #AD30, in recognition of our three-decade journey working with and for independent artists. Join the celebration and donate today to support our next 30 years of Artist Development.

Ana (Vanessa Benavente), a housekeeper from El Salvador, brings her teenage son Nico (Ezekiel Pacheco) to help her clean an affluent family’s Los Angeles home. But after someone rings at the front gate, her employers, Marianne (Miranda Otto) and Peter Barris (Noah Wyle), inform them that immigration officers are searching for them and convince the pair to hide in a basement closet, demanding they hand over their cell phones as a safety precaution. As days go by under the same roof, each family begins to question the other’s true intentions in this riveting and emotional thriller from first-time feature director Augustus Meleo Bernstein.

From Picturehouse, At the Gates will be released in theaters in Los Angeles on November 3 and New York on November 10.
