Logline

After Tomás and Sebas finally reveal their real feelings for each other, they attempt to be a new couple while living together. Meanwhile, Estella struggles to stick to her self-care journey while her feelings for Xavier begin to arise.

Synopsis

Season 2 of & They Were Roommates will center around friendship and new found love. We will follow Tomas & Estella in their usual shenanigans and explore their new relationships & friendships in their lives. Tomas & Sebas, now a couple, navigate what it means to live with your new lover. Estella will be focusing on herself and her new friendship with Xavier. Life brings them some bumps on the roads but nothing this duo can’t handle.
 

Meet the Filmmakers

Stephanie Osuna-Hernandez — Writer/Director/Co-Producer

Stephanie Osuna-Hernandez is a first-gen Latina writer/director from Inglewood, CA, known for creating heartfelt, humorous stories.

She worked on Netflix’s Gentefied as assistant to the showrunners and was a directing fellow in Film Independent’s Project Involve, where her short Calabaza screened at LALIFF, Palm Springs ShortFest, and NYLFF. In 2022, she joined Film Independent’s Episodic Directing Intensive.

Her rom-com web series & They Were Roommates has over 60K YouTube views, and she’s currently developing her first rom-com feature, (Emo)tionally Yours.

Graciela María Campos— Actress/Co-Writer/Co-Producer
Graciela María Campos is a multi-hyphenate creative and a mom, fueled by love, community, and art. Her passion lies in uplifting authentic stories that reflect real people and real experiences. She’s especially dedicated to amplifying Latine and LGBTQIA+ voices, using her skills and resources to help these stories reach the audiences they deserve.

Graciela is grateful to God for guiding her journey, and she’s excited to keep building a career rooted in creativity, faith, and love.

Cesar Camacho — Actor/Co-Producer/Co-Writer
Cesar Camacho is a first-generation, Mexican American storyteller, actor and writer based in Los Angeles and originally from Chicago. Since moving to LA, Cesar has continued to dive into filmmaking by assisting behind and in-front of the cameras to develop his craft. As a proud son of Mexican immigrant parents, he plans to produce and develop stories that continue to shine light on his experiences and those of his Latinx and queer communities.

Cesar recently stared in a rom-com web series, “& They Were Roommate”s, that he co-produced and co-wrote, garnering over 50,000 views on YouTube. The series had it’s festival debut last year at The New York Lation Film Festival and at the East Los Angeles Film Festival where he won Best Actor. He’s currency working on his second 10-minute stage play as part of Brown and Outs 2025 writing program.

Jiovana Arteaga — Co-Producer
Jiovana Arteaga is a Mexican-American Director/Writer based in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from California State University Long Beach and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Electronic Arts – Narrative Production specialization in directing and producing. Jiovana wrote and directed Before You Go” in 2021, her acceptance video to the CSULB Narrative Program, where only 40 students got accepted. In her Fall semester of 2022, she was given the opportunity to write and pitch a 10-minute film to the selection committee, Luchar Por Un Sueño was one of the ten films selected for production and given a grant money award from HFPA. The short film is about a single father, Sergio, a street vendor raising money to accomplish his daughter’s dream of having a quinceañera. Luchar Por Un Sueño had its World Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival 2023 and Jury Award Winner for Highland Park Independent Film Festival 2024. She is currently a writer assistant for a rom-com web series & They Were Roommates that was chosen for the New York Latino Film Festival. Jiovana aims to work on films that focus on making an impact and uplifting unrepresented stories.

Alejandra Quiroz — Producer
Alejandra Quiroz is a Honduran-born, Los Angeles–based producer, director, and creative visionary. She is the host of Central American Voices Podcast and the founder of Our Lú Production LLC, a creative studio dedicated to producing films, music videos, commercials, and series that celebrate identity, culture, and community.

A proud 2019 graduate of Cal State Northridge with a double major in Cinema & Television Arts and Central American Studies, Alejandra’s storytelling is rooted in her love for Central America and her commitment to uplifting the stories of her region. She is also a founding member of La Femme Lens Collective, a community of women and femme-identifying filmmakers that centers care, education, and collaboration in the industry.

Beyond production, Alejandra is a community organizer, educator, and advocate for undocumented creatives, passionate about building pathways for artists to create and sustain their work.
