Aspiring rapper recalls one of the worst days of his life , that almost derails his entire existence

Synopsis

In 1991 Detroit, 14-year-old aspiring rapper Rampage (real name Eugene) lives between two worlds. His stern father Gene, a hustler, forbids “that rap crap” and demands discipline. His free-spirited mother Renee spoils him with stolen mall gifts—brand-new Jordans and clothes—after a night of boosting.

One evening, after Rampage writes fresh bars to a Too $hort beat and proudly models his kicks, masked robbers invade the house searching for “the shit.” Gunfire erupts. Rampage hides in a closet, then is dragged at gunpoint into the basement and forced to reveal his father’s hidden guns and stash.

With a .357 pressed to his forehead and a chilling countdown from the robbers, Rampage faces the horrifying truth: his own father refuses to speak, even if it costs his son’s life. A single torn page of rap lyrics lies bloodstained on the floor, trampled and forgotten.

Years later, on a red-carpet premiere, successful actor and rapper Page Kennedy steps from a limo amid flashing cameras. Reflecting on that night, he shares the lesson his father taught in silence: Never show the enemy where the guns are.

Meet the Filmmakers

Page Kennedy — Actor/Producer
Page Kennedy is a multi-talented Shakespearean trained actor and rapper whose presence in Hollywood is breaking ground with his authentic self-expression tackling grief, trauma, and the human experience, through music. Page has been seen in the highly anticipated Warner Bros. sequel, Meg 2: The Trench expanding his role of ‘DJ’. Evolving from The Meg, ‘DJ’ has learned how to fight and take action, allowing him a front row seat in catching the elusive prehistoric creature. Parallel to that, he will be releasing his newest album of original music titled A Book of Pages (August 4, 2023), where fans can get an expanded look inside his life. The remix for his single Chomp off the album is featured in the credits for Meg 2: The Trench. The thespian’s career has been steadily on the rise since booking his first ever audition for the CBS comedy The Kennedys in 2001 after sneaking on to the studio lot as a mail courier. Since then, he has been seen in some of the biggest television and film productions. Most notably, he’s remembered for his roles on HBO’s Six Feet Under as the catalyst for ‘Nate’s (Peter Krause) acknowledgement of the afterlife, Showtime’s Weeds as ‘U-Turn’ a drug dealer out to get ‘Nancy’ (Mary-Louise Parker), cult favorite Blue Mountain State, the NAACP nominated Netflix comedy The Upshaws with Mike Epps and Wanda Sykes, and most recently as the ruthless pimp ‘Percy’ on FX’s award winning series Snowfall. His film credits include Columbia Pictures’ S.W.A.T. with Samuel L. Jackson, Lionsgate feature In the Mix with Usher, and The Meg (2018). Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, Page began exploring his musical talents as early as seven years old, influenced by the sounds of Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, and Run-DMC. At 10 years old, Page began to record his own music sharing it with family and friends. It wasn’t until 2017 when Page reached a point in his professional life where he was able to fully give himself to his first love and passion of rap music on a grand scale. Thanks in part to the continued expansion of self publishing platforms for independent artists, he began to release one album and one mixtape per year. Listeners are invited inside a raw and unfiltered look at Page’s life and point of view, offering a perspective on social consciousness and humanity, with music being his true therapy. Heavily influenced by Michael Jackson, in both song and stage, Page began studying theater in high school, moving on to Western Michigan University. An outstanding performance at WMU for a graduate school showcase led to a bidding war among 17 graduate theater programs, and he chose the University of Delaware, which gave him an opportunity to concentrate on Shakespeare. Considering himself a lyricist, he was able to blend his passion for the various forms of art and expression professionally when moving to Los Angeles after intensive training in Delaware. Just like Michael Jackson was to Page, he hopes that his journey in Hollywood inspires the next generation of artists. Page Kennedy is a proud father of four, currently residing in Los Angeles
