Bio
An Egyptian filmmaker associated with the Mena wave of cinema, he has built an international career. After beginning as an editor, he directed his debut feature, Heliopolis (2009). His second film, Microphone (2010), received over twenty international awards. Subsequent works include Rags & Tatters, Decor, EXT/Night, and 19B, all screened abroad. His films have been selected by TIFF, BFI London FF, SGIFF, and São Paulo IFF, winning prizes at Cinemed Montpellier, Carthage FF, and Istanbul IFF. He finished shooting his latest feature, BerleeN_, set to premiere in 2027, and has collaborated with DFI and Red Sea FF, serving on juries.
