Join us for An Evening With… Chloé Zhao – moderated by Regina King – as we rewind through her life and career; from the celebrated Songs My Brothers Taught Me, to her Academy Award®-winning film Nomadland, to her newest film; the stunning, multi-award-winning Hamnet.

Chloé Zhao is a writer, director, editor and producer from Beijing. She is a 2011 Film Independent Screenwriting Lab Fellow with her first feature Songs My Brothers Taught Me. Her third feature, Nomadland, earned acclaims including the Golden Lion at the 2020 Venice Film Festival; Golden Globe®️, BAFTA, DGA and PGA Awards; three Film Independent Spirit Awards and three Oscars®️, including Best Director, Best Actress and Best Picture. Chloé, who co-wrote and directed Marvel Studios’ Eternals, launched Book of Shadows in 2023 – a production company, with producing partner Nic Gonda. Most recently, Chloé co-wrote and directed Hamnet, starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. Hamnet won Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Jessie Buckley. The film has also received eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress.

In addition to Screenwriting Lab, Chloé and Songs My Brother Taught Me were supported by the Film Independent Artist Development programs Producing Lab and Fast Track.

Fans of Chloé and her iconic career will not want to miss this special evening as she shares insights into her unique artistic process, celebrating marginalized communities in her films, and navigating a path from indie dramas to The Globe Theatre.

Immediately following the conversation, a reception will be held in the DGA Lobby honoring Hamnet. The reception is open to all guests, and we look forward to continuing the evening together.
