Documentary Grant Funding by California Humanities
Documentary Grant Funding by California Humanities
We’re pleased to welcome John Lightfoot from California Humanities to Film Independent for an informational seminar on their grant funding for film, audio and interactive documentaries. California Humanities invites applications for the 2023 round of California Documentary Project (CDP) grants in support of film, audio or digital media projects that document California subjects and issues; use the humanities to provide context, depth and perspective; and have the potential to reach and engage audiences statewide and nationally. Productions of any documentary style and length are eligible: shorts, features, podcasts, web series, VR and more.
California Humanities welcomes proposals for documentary projects that bring new and previously unheard perspectives to light, reflect a broad cross-section of Californians’ stories, and help reveal the breadth and range of California’s cultures, peoples and histories. Projects should be designed to engage broad audiences through multiple means, including but not limited to broadcasts, streaming and other online distribution, in community screenings and discussions, and in classrooms, libraries, cultural centers and more.
CA residency is not required to apply. Application deadline is Nov 1, 2023.
