Includes a conversation with writer/director Brad Bird

The long-awaited (fourteen years!) sequel to The Incredibles, writer/director Brad Bird’s equally hilarious and dramatic, Academy Award-winning animated feature, is finally arriving and hitting the ground for one of its earliest screenings at Film Independent at LACMA. In the first film, “Supers” (super-powered heroes) have been outlawed by the government and forcibly retired. The Incredibles follows a pair of Supers fighting to maintain some semblance of normal life after marrying and starting a family. They face a new foe – the suburbs – and the tension that builds when a world-threatening menace materializes. The original voice cast (Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson) reunites for the follow-up, which Bird promises features raised stakes, as compared to the original. For more details, you’ll just have to attend and then stick around for a Q&A with Brad Bird himself after the screening.

2018, 118 minutes, Color, DCP | Written by Brad Bird; directed by Brad Bird; with Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird, Sophia Bush, Jonathan Banks, Catherine Keener, Bob Odenkirk and Isabella Rossellini
