Husam Asi

Bio

Husam Asi started his life as a scientist. He obtained a BS in Physics and then an MSc and a PhD in neuroscience. He started making films in medical school, and after graduation he slowly shifted to the world of film, making five shorts and writing four feature scripts. His recent short comedy Pleasure Marriage was nominated for Best Short Film at Hawaii International Film Festival. His script The General’s Son was a finalist in the American Screenwriters Association 2008 competition and the Scr(i)pt competition sponsored by Benderspink.

Asi is the founder and publisher of www.ukscreen.com, one of the largest film and music networks in the UK. He was nominated for Best Publisher by The New Statement magazine and won the Fringe Report’s Best Publisher award. He is also an accredited member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). Currently, Asi is finishing a 15-minute psychological drama that he shot at USC, and developing a feature project with Oscar-nominated producer Amir Harel (Paradise Now, Walk on Water).
