Bio

Louis Lee grew up in Sacramento, CA. Thanks to responsible parenting, he was exposed to classic cinema at an early age. This sparked his passion as a storyteller; whether he did it through the page, the stage or moving images. As the 20th Century was nearing its end, Lee discovered and fell in love with picture editing at age 11—a time when digital video editing was just becoming more accessible to the consumer market. Originally a fun hobby, film editing had become a serious obsession by the time he graduated from high school. Lee studied Film Theory and Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. His 2008 film Beside Myself, was selected for the Introduction To Anatomy showcase at the Pacific Film Archive. During his undergraduate studies, Lee began working on independent features and documentaries in various post-production positions. After graduating from UC Berkeley, he cut dozens of shorts, web videos, and commercials throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. He moved to Los Angeles in Summer 2011, and is currently an assistant editor for fiction and documentary features, and a short film editor. The most recent film he assisted on, Janeane From Des Moines, was an official selection at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.
