Educational Distribution for Docs

Film Independent is pleased to welcome Jonathan Skurnik, Chair of New Day Films, a specialist in the non-theatrical distribution of documentaries. Jonathan will explain how the educational market works, how it’s changed and how it may evolve in the future. He’ll also discuss documentaries that are best suited to this type of distribution (and those that are not), what a typical educational deal looks like, what deliverables a filmmaker is expected to provide and who some of the major players in the educational market are.

About the Speaker

Jonathan also founded three ground-breaking, grassroots outreach and audience engagement projects that provide transformational educational experiences through facilitated screenings and immersive digital resources. Jonathan also directs narrative films, teaches filmmaking at local universities and works as a visual artist.
