The Green Set

As creative people who care about making a difference with our art, can we afford not to care about the impact we make on our environment? What is the story we tell about our place in the world with the way we make our films?

Can you save money on your production costs while saving the planet? Can you leave the community you film in better off than when you came in? In the current climate where everyone talks about sustainability, there are ways to reduce your costs and your footprint: whether it’s using recycled props, using production vehicles that run on biofuel, or weaning your crew off bottled water. By improving processes and methods, filmmakers can have a broader impact than ever imagined.

Film Independent is pleased to welcome Amanda Scarano Carter, Chair of PGA Green West, who will offer tips and advice to indie filmmakers on how to make their productions more environmentally friendly while staying within their limited budgets.

About the speaker

Amanda’s career spans over 20 years of film production around the world, with a more recent focus on operations management and business development for studio facilities. Additionally, she consults as LA Partner for Greenshoot UK, providing environmental consultancy and management for filming.

She has been involved with PGAgreen.org since its inception and also works as part of PGA Green’s Steering Committee for GreenProductionGuide.com, developed with funding from all the major production studios.
