Bio

Jenny Halper began her career as an executive on The Kids are All Right. As Director of Development at Maven Pictures, she has worked on films including The Whistleblower, Still Alice, Novitiate, American Honey, The Kindergarten Teacher, and the forthcoming Skin. She has received Film Independent Fellowships for her adaptations of Laura van den Berg’s acclaimed story, now titled The Burning Season, and Alice Hoffman’s groundbreaking novel, At Risk. The Burning Season placed on the 2016 Blacklist and the Athena List, won a TFI Sloan Grant, and will be directed by Claire McCarthy and star Naomi Watts and Sophia Lillis will star. At Risk will be directed by Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly, and star Jacob Tremblay and Julianne Nicholson.
Halper’s fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize among other awards, and has been published in places including the Chicago Tribune. She was noted as one of The Independent’s One to Watch, 2015.
