Sheltered teen Nat (Tony Revolori) is leaving home for his first year of college and savoring the prospect of a smooth, solo cross-country drive on the way to his new life. When his car breaks down en route, his panic is calmed by Richard (Jason Mantzoukas), a friendly if eccentric mechanic who just quit his job and happens to need a ride. On the way out of town, Richard pounds a road beer or three, sparks a joint, and begins to question why young Nat is lacking a clear philosophy about the rest of his life. As they venture on, these two strangers will battle through bar fights, heartache, and many more unfortunate detours to make it to their next destinations in life.
