Nominations

Applications to Global Media Makers will be considered by nomination only.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualified applicants must:

1) Be a citizen and/or current resident of one of the seven (7) eligible countries below:

  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Morocco
  • Tunisia
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible.

2) Be a mid-career professional with at least one produced credit on a completed project (in film, television and/or serial web content) as writer, producer or director.

3) Submit information about a project currently in advanced development or production that addresses an issue of local importance in the applicant’s home country or the MENA region. For example, fiction filmmakers must have a completed screenplay or teleplay and documentary filmmakers must have a fully developed proposal.

Film Independent will contact qualified nominated candidates with instructions and a link to an online application form.

Candidates may apply as individuals or as two-person creative team comprising writers, directors and producers only. Preference will be given to creative teams, but individuals will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.

All project materials must be submitted in English and proficiency in English is required to participate in the program. If the project is selected to participate, selection of all team members is not guaranteed.

Please note: Selected participants must attend the full length of the program in Los Angeles. Global Media Makers fully covers the costs of the program, including transportation and accommodation, for selected participants. The LA residency during the program is immersive and demanding; family members may not accompany Fellows.
